1st January 2020
From The Principal
To all members of the Trinity Community
It is with great sadness that I am letting people know that I have resigned from my position as Principal of Trinity with effect from January 31st 2020. This decision has been made for personal/family reasons. The Board of Governors have accepted my resignation.
Being Principal of this great institution has been the greatest honour of my professional life. I have worked as hard as I can every day for the last four years on behalf of the school. In the past, Trinity had suffered serious threats to its integrity, its reputation and its respect. But I am pleased to say that we have weathered that storm. Our stature is not questioned any more and the school is now in a good place. Being ranked #1 school in Sri Lanka recently was a proud moment for Trinity and for me personally, as it showed that people beyond the Trinity community now acknowledge once again what a great school Trinity College is. Long may that continue!
There will be plenty of time for goodbyes as I will be working as usual throughout January. However, Viv and I would like to thank all those members of the Trinity community who have supported us over the past four years. This includes Boys, Staff, Parents, Governors and a large number of Old Boys, without whom much of what has been achieved during my time would not have been possible. Their generous support in terms of time, advice and expertise as well as financially, have been remarkable; and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Viv and I will be leaving behind so many friends, and we hope very much that we shall not lose touch with you all. Even though I shall no longer be working at the school, my passion for Trinity will never diminish. I love the school and everything it stands for.
I wish everyone associated with Trinity all the very best for the future. I hope all the boys here now go on to achieve success and happiness in the future. Finally, I am confident that my successor, whoever he may be, will take the school onto new heights, and my prayers and thoughts will be with him.
Respice Finem!
