Appointment of Principal

The Rt. Rev. Dhiloraj Canagasabey, Metropolitan Commissary & Vicar General of the Diocese of Colombo and the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Trinity College Kandy is pleased to announce the unanimous decision of the Board of Governors to appoint Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB as Principal of Trinity College with effect from 1st  October 2020.

43 year old Fr. Araliya had his primary and secondary education at Trinity and is no stranger to the school. He is a Professed Member of the Sylvestro-Benedictine Congregation of Sri Lanka.

He holds a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Peradeniya, Degrees in Theology from National and International Universities, post Graduate Diplomas in Education, Development Practices and Management and a Master of Science degree in Organisational and Human Resource Management from the PGIA of the University of Peradeniya. Among other achievements, he has also been a “Senior Fullbright Research Scholar” in the University of California-Santa Barbara, where he studied Religious Pluralism in the USA.

He has a wealth of experience in teaching at Primary and Secondary school levels in Sri Lanka having joined the Teacher Service (SLTS) and later appointed to the Sri Lanka Principal Service (SLPS). He has served at St. Anthony’s College Kandy as Deputy Principal (Administration), Prefect of Games and Head Master of the Primary School.

The Board of Governors is confident that he will be warmly welcomed by the “Trinity Family” and the desired goodwill and support will be extended to him towards giving leadership to our School with the grace of God.

The Board of Governors also wishes to take this opportunity to place on record the deep appreciation of the invaluable service rendered by Dr. Nalin Wikramanayake as Acting Principal until the appointment of Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB.
