Background and Project Purpose
Developing a world class indoor sport centre and gymnasium with professional facilities, providing an opportunity to fully develop the sporting talents of our students. We also expect this sports centre will be the focus for all the indoor games taking place in Kandy.
Facilities and Flexibility
Sports which can be played there (both using the whole Hall for one sport and/or through using netting dividers to enable more than one sport to be played at the same time):
- Badminton (6 Courts if whole Hall is being used)
- Basketball Courts (2 for practices or 1 International standard court in centre of Hall)
- Indoor Hockey
- Indoor Football
- Futsal
- Table Tennis
- Tennis
- Gymnastics
- Martial Arts (eg Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Kick Boxing).
- Fencing
- Volleyball
- Netball (hire to local Clubs and for our girls when London A Level numbers grow
Other facilities within the Sports Hall include:
- Changing Room facilities, including showers and washrooms, for Male & Female)
- Gymnasium (in the adjoining Annex)
- Offices (both in the main hall and in the Annex)
- M/F Toilets (in Annex)
- Storeroom (for sports equipment)
- Bleachers (pull-out tiered) seating for up to 400
As a large indoor space with extensive, uncluttered square foot capacity, flexibility of seating and layout as well as facilities like washrooms etc, the Sports Hall can also be used for many types of indoor event other than Sports, eg Awards ceremonies, Concerts, Plays, Conferences etc. It can be used to create revenue as well as for the benefit of Trinity itself.
